Every registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a particular web hosting company. In this way, you have got both your website and your e-mails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are lots of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one reveals which server deals with the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you enter a domain address in your browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you could be directed to the servers of another service provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having separate records for the site and the emails means that you may have your site and your e-mails with two different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting through our company, you're going to be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your domain names. As long as a specific Internet domain has our Name Servers, you will be able to change particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or e-mails directed to another company if you would like to use only one of our services. Our state-of-the-art tool is going to enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address at all. If you want to use the e-mail services of another company and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do it with simply a few clicks within the DNS Records section of your CP. Also you can set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the Linux semi-dedicated servers we provide, you are going to have 100 % control over the records of all domain names and subdomains that you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has through the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and modifying any record takes only a couple of mouse clicks. If you decide to change your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can change the required record and direct your domain name to the other service provider for one of the services, as you still continue using the other one through us. Also you can keep the main domain here, while you change the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you are modifying the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default 2 we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each one.
